The Honourable Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, under the Decade of Gas Programme, has launched the inaugural Grassroot LPG Penetration Programme for Women & Youths as part of activities to mark the first anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
This is part of the Decade of Gas Cooking Gas Outreach Programme which aims to move one million homes to clean cooking gas by 2030.
The minister said, “Together we are on a mission to change millions of Nigerian lives in our six geographical zones.
“By 2030, we want to convert 250,000 houses a year to clean cooking gas, which is a lofty but attainable target.
“I urge all stakeholders in the gas value chain to support this initiative so that together we can banish the use of firewood, charcoal and kerosene as source of cooking fuel from our homes.”
The Honorable Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy, the Honorable Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary MPR, Amb. Nicholas Ella Agbo, The Authority Chief Executive, Engr. Farouk Ahmed represented by the Executive Director, Corporate Services & Administration Mal. Bashir Sadiq, The Executive Director of Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure fund, Mr. Oluwole Adama all attended the event.
