Through strategic partnerships with international investors and the development of new LNG projects, Nigeria aims to increase its share of the global LNG market and generate additional revenue from gas exports.

4Gas to Power

One of the central objectives of the initiative is to increase the utilization of natural gas for power generation.

By promoting the construction of gas-fired power plants and incentivizing investments in the gas-to-power value chain, Nigeria seeks to enhance electricity generation capacity, improve grid reliability, and reduce reliance on more expensive and polluting fuels like diesel and fuel oil.

5Gas to Homes

Expanding access to clean and affordable energy for residential use is a key objective. By promoting the distribution of natural gas to households, the initiative seeks to reduce reliance on traditional fuels like firewood and kerosene, thereby improving indoor air quality, reducing deforestation, and enhancing overall energy efficiency. It is envisioned that supply through pipelines or cylinders will promote the use of gas in homes. The initiative aims to increase the availability of gas for cooking, and electricity generation in homes, which contributes to economic development, environmental sustainability, and improved standards of living for Nigerian households.

6Gas to Industries

The Decade of Gas initiative aims to stimulate industrial growth and job creation by encouraging the use of natural gas as a feedstock for domestic industries.

By promoting gas-based industrialization, Nigeria seeks to enhance the competitiveness of its manufacturing sector, attract foreign investment, and diversify the economy away from oil dependency.
